The END of the OLD Covenant
74
God's Law, Mosaic Law and the Law of Christ
God's Law and the Law of Moses are separate as proven by scripture. God wrote the 10 Commandments by His own finger! (Exodus 31:18; 32:16). The 10 Commandments on the two tablets of stone were placed in the Arch of the Covenant (Exodus 40:20). The Law of Moses, called the book of the law was placed in the side of the Arch of the Covenant (Deuteronomy 31:26). These also included the 10, but the 10 Commandments are what is called the Law of God. For a side-by side comparison of scripture regarding this separation of Law, click here.
The Law of Moses is what is known as the Jewish Mitzvot contained in the first five books of the Torah (the Bible), and the Old Covenant made through them was replaced by the New Covenant of grace through our Messiah and Savior, Jesus Christ. To read these 613 commandments and ordinances of the Mitzvot, click here.
There were additional laws instituted by the Jewish Rabbi's (called the Takanot), also. Basically, the Jewish nations, since the time of Moses, followed the Law of Moses (Torah) and Rabbinic laws (Takanot), which are still very much a part of the Messianic Jewish culture today. To understand more about the Jewish culture, read up on Judaism 101.
This is not to say that any laws given to the Jewish nations, inspired by God, were BAD. They are all GOOD! It's the Covenant of the Law that is abolished and replaced. If you're having a hard time with this, I invite you to read my hub specifically about the Law of Moses (Torah) and Rabbinic Law (Takanot) and how they relate to those who are now under the "Law of Christ": Torah: The Law of Moses
Comment: There are absolute truths that are found in the New Testament, which are confirmed in the Old Testament Torah. For example, homosexuality and sorcery are said to be an abomination to God in the NT and when we look at the supporting scriptures in the OT, we can see confirmation and even the consequences for practicing such things. People who do not have the blood of Jesus covering their sins are indeed still bound by the Old Covenant Law of sin and death. In fact, to incorporate the Old Covenant under the New is to nullify the New Covenant altogether! (Galatians 2:21) The New Covenant allows repentance and complete forgiveness, as Jesus already paid the "wages of sin" through His death on the cross.
Unfortunately, many of the congregations or churches today continue to keep practicing either the Jewish Mitzvot, the Takanot, religiously adding to the Law of God. I think somehow people still believe that by religiously practicing all these works, it will somehow make them more pleasing, or more righteous to God.
Matthew 5:20 states, "For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the Law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven."
2 Corinthians 5:1 "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
Romans 7:4-6 “Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death. But now we have been released from the Law, having died to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in newness of the Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.”
For more on the newness of the Spirit, bearing the fruit of the Spirit, which is MOST IMPORTANT to our Lord, I invite you to read my hub Will He Know You?
This hub will scripturally show that the purpose of the Old Covenant, the Law of Moses, was fulfilled and because of the New Covenant, we must be saved by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ, our Lord and God.
Defintion of Covenant (Hebrew)
Hebrew word beriyth (ber-eeth’) (in the sense of cutting; a compact (because made by passing between pieces of flesh):-confederacy, [con-] feder [-ate], covenant, league. From the word barah (baw-raw’); a primitive roof: to select; also (as denom. from bar (bawr or bar) (in the sense of winnowing): grain of any kind (even while standing in the field); by extension the open country:-corn, wheat); and from the Hebrew word bara (baw-raw’); a primitive root; (absolute) to create; (qualified) to cut down (a wood), select, feed (as formative processes):-choose, create (creator), cut down, dispatch, do, make (fat).
The Old Covenant of Sin and Death
When Jesus Christ began His ministry at the age of 30, the first accusation that came against Him was that of not following the Sabbath law, in that He healed people on that holy day. Well, we know Jesus never sinned, so He wasn’t in error, the Jews were. Still to this day, people who embrace the Law of Moses, the Old Covenant, are bound by it and its consequences. People who embrace grace through faith in Jesus Christ, the New Covenant, are not bound by the Old Covenant, the Law of Moses.
John 1:17 “For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth were realized through Jesus Christ.” This is a summary of the two covenants.
Galatians 3:10-12 “For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who does not abide by all things written in the book of the Law to perform them.’ Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, ‘The righteous man shall live by faith.’ However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary…”
The Purpose of the Law
Romans 3:19-20 “Now we know that whatever the Law says, it speaks to those who are under the Law, that every mouth may be closed, and all the world may become accountable to God; because by the works of the Law no flesh will be justified in His sight; for through the law comes the knowledge of sin."
Romans 7:5 "For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death."
Galatians 3:18-19 “For if the inheritance is based on Law, it is no longer based on a promise; but God has granted it to Abraham by means of a promise. Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator [Moses], until the seed [Jesus] should come to whom the promise had been made.”
Galatians 3:25-28 “But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the Law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, that we may be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.”
Change in Priesthood
Hebrews 7:11-19 is the passage showing the change of Old Testament Priesthood from the Levites and that of Melchizedek to that of Jesus Christ, our Messiah.
"Now if perfection was through the Levitical priesthood (for on the basis of it the people received the Law), what further need was there for another priest to arise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be designated according to the order of Aaron?
For when the priesthood is changed, of necessity there takes place a change of Law also.
For the one concerning whom these things are spoken belongs to another tribe, from which no one has officiated at the altar.
For it is evident that our Lord was descended from Judah, a tribe with reference to which Moses spoke nothing concerning priests.
And this is clearer still, if another priest arises according to the likeness of Melchizedek, who has become such not on the basis of a Law of physical requirement, but according to the power of an indestructible life.
For it is witnessed of Him, 'Thou art a priest forever according to the order of Mechizadek.'
For, on the one hand, there is a settling of a former commandment because of its weakness and uselessness (for the Law made nothing perfect), and on the other hand there is a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God."
The End of the Old Covenant
The Old Testament prophesied of the New Covenant to come in Jeremiah 31:31-32 “Behold, days are coming,’ declares the LORD, ‘when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah (Jesus’ tribe), not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,’ declares the Lord.”
Romans 4:13-16 “For the promise to Abraham or to his descendants that he would be heir of the world was not through the Law, but through the righteousness of faith. For if those who are of the Law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise is nullified; for the Law brings about wrath, but where there is no Law, neither is there violation.”
WHAT ABOUT MATTHEW 5:17-18? Let's write these verses here, and understand that Jesus had not died on the cross yet when He spoke these words:
"Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill. For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished."
Hebrews 7:28 “Moses' Teachings designated mortals as chief priests even though they had weaknesses. But God's promise, which came after Moses' Teachings, designated the Son who forever accomplished everything that God required.”
Romans 10:4 “For Christ is the end of the Law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Romans 11:25, 27 "For I do not want you, brethren, to be uniformed of this mystery: And this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins."
Galatians 3:19 "Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator [Moses], until the seed [Jesus] should come to whom the promise had been made.”
Ephesians 2:14-16 “For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups [Jews and Gentiles] into one, and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity.”
Colossians 2:14 "having blotted out the bond written in ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us: and He hath taken it out that way, nailing it to the cross;"
Hebrews 8:6-7, 13 “But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, by as much as He is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion sought for a second.” “When He said, ‘A new covenant,’ He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear.”
Hebrews 9:15, 18 “And for this reason He is the mediator of a new covenant, in order that since a death has taken place for the redemption of the transgressions that were committed under the first covenant, those who have been called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.”
Hebrews 12:24 “and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.”
Persecution and Mission
Acts 18:12-13 “The Jews with one accord rose up against Paul and brought him before the judgment seat, saying, ‘This man persuades men to worship God contrary to the Law.’
Romans 3:28 “For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the Law.”
So why did the Apostle Paul not only shave his head, but also instruct Gentiles who were being persecuted by the Jews to observe some of their Law (Acts 15 and 21)? 1 Corinthians 9:20 states, “And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might win Jews; to those who are under the Law, as under the Law, though not being myself under the Law, that I might win those who are under the Law.”
1 Cor 8:9-13 confirms this advice to the Gentiles in regard to our Jewish brethren:
"But take care that this liberty of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak. For if someone sees you, who have knowledge, dining in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be strengthened to eat things sacrificed to idols? For through your knowledge he who is weak is ruined, the brother for whose sake Christ died. And so, by sinning against the brethren and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ. Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause my brother to stumble."
I invite you to now read The JOY in the New Covenant!

Matthew 19:17-19 "... if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments. Then he said to Him, "Which ones?" And Jesus said, "YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT MURDER; YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY; YOU SHALL NOT STEAL; YOU SHALL NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS; HONOR

Jesus said "DON NOT THINK that I have come to abolish the LAW or The Prophets but to fulfill them. The word fulfill means "to cause God's will as made know in the Law of Moses to be obeyed as it should be. You used Galatians 3:19-25 to try and disprove that the Law is no longer valid. First of all Paul is not Messiah and Paul would not have told us to stop keeping the commandments in the Law. If you look at the text with kknowing the history of what Paul was dealing with. The tudor is the Oral Law of the Pharisees and scribes that caused people to draw close to Messiah because the Phaerisees made the Law of Moses into man made commandments called the Orla Law. Paul was against the Oral Laws and NOT GOD's Law.
Ga. 3:10 says, "Cursed are those who are under the LAw (under the oral traditions and customs of men), CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT DO EVERYTHING WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW.
The context of Paul is dealing with those judaisers who were saying that one has to be circumcised according to the CUSTOM of Mose. Moses never had a custom for circumcision. Abraham was given the commandment of circumcision. Paul was worried that the Galatians had fallen back to following man and not God.
Jesus said it clear, "why are you making Gods word void because of your tradtions. Christians are right when they say they ar no longer under the law but they are making a big mistake to think that the law Paul speaks of is the Law of God. Jews believe that two Laws were given on Mt. Sinai (The Oral and the Written). IN the NT there is only one word for any law weather its man made or from God. Galatians teaches us to KEEP Gods Law and not to do away with it. The Law is forever. You can listen to my teachings on Galatians verse by verse study. http://www.wholeloafworshipcenter.com. Jesus also said to those that teach even the least of the commandments and others to do them will be called great. the Law of Moses IS NOT Jewish Law, Jewish Law is the Oral laws and traditions around the Law of Moses. Galatians is the most misunderstood book in the Bible. It has been leading to many people to the LAWLESS one that is the devil who is without God's Law.
Blessings and please email me back because this is a very important topic that people are afraid to face. The Law is Life, its the Truth, and it is Light. Jesus is the living Law of God. We don't have to keep it we get to to show our love for God.d God is the same yesterday, today and forever. HE DOES NOT CHANGE.
Jesus did not nail the Law to the cross. He broke down the enmity between the those who made the law of commandments into doctrines of men, commandments and traditions that Jews and Gentiles cannot associate. This is not found in the Law of God to separate Jews and Gentiles. The Law says Love the foreigner and do mistreet them, treat them as a native that lives with you. Christs Law is the Law of God. Is Jesus not God? If he is God then he is the one who gave the Law from Mt. Sinai. Man has made following man more important than following God.
13 Then the Lord said, "Because this people draw near with their words And honor Me with their lip service, But they remove their hearts far from Me, And their reverence for Me consists commandments taught by men,
14 Therefore behold, I will once again deal marvelously with this people, wondrously marvelous; And the wisdom of their wise men will perish, And the discernment of their discerning men will be concealed."
(Isa 29:13-14 NAU)
Gods Law is hear forever. So do we stop keeping the Sabbath, eating Biblical food, throw out the biblical feasts?
You missed everything I said. and if you look as Strong's concordance you would see the definition to the Greek word fulfill. You obviously are anti Law and so that stop me from even furthering our talk. You look at an English translation that teaches hate towards Jews and God's Written Torah. You need to study your history before .stating untrue facts about the Bible.
You are using the scriptures out of context. And have a closed mind to the Law of God or Torah of God which is his instructions for us to live. Rom 14:5 is saying don't let know one judge you for doing the feasts and if you STUDY the Greek at all this is speaking of ritual impurity and not everyday uncleanliness. I suppose Christmass in in the Bible as well as Easter which come from Pagan backgrounds. Be my gueat. I wa=ont judge you, God will in the end for not doing what He said. If you chose to follow what Man has established as doctrine and truth then you have fallen under the drunkenenss of the Harlett and cannot see the truth when its in front of you. If you do love God you will keep his commandments and not just the ones you chose to do. "Those who say they know God and do not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him. (1 John 2:4)
Sin is LAWLESSNESS (hoe can this be read in any other way without adding opinions to it? " 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome. (1Jo 5:3 NAU)
There is only one Bible with the commandments. Nothing has changed and I do not judge those he keep the feasts as long as they keep them. They are a shadow and reminder of what is coming. True celebration with our Messiah in enternity. Please don't get caught following the devil who name is the LAWLESSONE, thats why its so hard to talk with those who do not get it. they have taken the Mark of Lawlessness. The Mark of God is His Word, Sabbath and Passover. The mark of the beast is the oppisite of the Mark of God. Look up you scriptures and find out what the mark of God is and you will seee how the enemy and only counterfeit God.
I know all the verses you are bring up and I do not have the time to show you how easy it is to twist them to following the mark of the enemy that is against God and his word.
Isaiah 29:13 honor with lips and serve commandments of men or serve Gods commands with all your heart. You make the decision
The LAw of Moses is not Oral. The laws of the Jews are Oral. The Law of Moses is Gods Law and even Jesus kept it. It was the traditions that Jesus was against. If you cannot see this then I am finish trying to explain because you have an-agenda to teach people to not follow the commandments of God and will be called least in heaven. Matt. 5:17-21
Law of Christ": Torah: The Law of Moses
There is no difference than the Law of Mose and the Law of Messiah . They Are the same thing. Now you have made two Gods. One Jesus and the other Gof of the Old T. There is no such things as an Old 5t. and a New T. You ae ver y wise but have little understanding of what a covenant is, They cannot change or be called Old or New only Re-Newed with better promises with the agreement TO DO WHAT God SAYS
tHE VERSES YOU ARE USING TEACH TE EXACT OPPISITE. THE TEACH US THE MOSES GAVE THE LAW AND YESHUA GAVE US GRACE TO KEEP THE LAW. IT WAS BEING LEARNED LITERALY AND NOT INWARDLY SEE MATT 5 FOR THE HARDER WAY OF FOLLOWING THE LAW
God's Law, Mosaic Law and the Law of Christ
God's Law and the Law of Moses are separate as proven by scripture. God wrote the 10 Commandments by His own finger! (Exodus 31:18; 32:16). T
the 10 Commandments on the two tablets of stone were placed in the Arch of the Covenant (Exodus 40:20).
‘
The Law of Moses, called the book of the law was placed in the side of the Arch of the Covenant (Deuteronomy 31:26).
These also included the 10, but the 10 Commandments are what is called the Law of God.
Pastor wills comments:
God’s Law; Law of Moses are not separate but the same thing.
The scripture the writer uses to prove that Gods Law is the 10 commandments written by the finger of God on Mt. Sinai. Lets look at each word of this verse to see what was written by God on the Tablets.
He gave Moses the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written by the finger of God. (Exo 31:18 NAU)
The Testimony in Hebrew this is the word ???????? (the testimony). Other verses that uses this same word has no use of defining Gods Law.
First of all a testimony is evidence that something exists. God put two stone tablets in anark that contained othe testimonies to prove the ark is holdiong testimonies that God did specific acts tio prove he spoke to Moses and the children of Israel. A Testimony is not Law or Torah.
Exodus 25:16 "You shall put into the ark the testimony which I
shall give you. (Exo 25:16 NAU)
Exodus 25:21 "You shall put the mercy seat on top of the ark, and in the ark you shall put the testimony which I will give to you.
(Exo 25:21 NAU)
Exodus 25:22 "There I will meet with you; and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, I will speak to you about all that I will give you in commandment for the sons of Israel. (Exo 25:22 NAU)
The ark contains testimonies so Israel would listen to the commandments that God was going to give to Israel. The Tablets are the first testimony of an act of God. We all have testimomnies to prove how God has saved us.
Exodus 31:18 When He had finished speaking with him upon Mount Sinai, He gave Moses the two tablets of the testimony (not the Torah), tablets of stone, written by the finger of God. (Exo 31:18 NAU)
The tabernacle is the place that hold the ark of the testimony of the act of God on mt. Sinai not the Law/Torah of God.
Numbers 7:89 Now when Moses went into the tent of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the testimony, from between the two cherubim, so He spoke to him. (Num 7:89 NAU)
God Spoke the commandments of Israel from among the ark of the testimony and made an agreement with Israel from among the ark of the testimony. The testimony is not the Torah or Law of God.
THE TEN COMMANDMENTS are not commandments:
The Bible says clearly that the 10 commandments that are not commandments are actually 10 WORDS.
NAU Exodus 20:1 Then God spoke all these words (Hebrew (D’varim) not Mitvot), saying,
2 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
3 "You shall have no other gods before Me.
4 "You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.
5 "You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,
6 but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
7 "You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.
8 "Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 "Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
10 but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.
11 "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.
12 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
13 "You shall not murder.
14 "You shall not commit adultery.
15 "You shall not steal.
16 "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor."
(Exo 20:1-17 NAU)
These are the ten word spoken by God to Israel before he gave them the commandments. These are the words of the covenant. The words of agreement that God is one and they are to follow those words to make an agreement to follow Gods Torah.
Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid; for God has come in order to test you (to elevate you ‘nisa’), and in order that the fear of Him may remain with you, so that you may not sin." (Exo 20:20 NAU)
The definition of sin is found in 1 John 5:3’ “Love God is to keep his commandments and they are not a burden.”
The testimony is an artifact of proof of the events at Mt Sinai not the commandments. The testimony is to motivate those who see them will believe in God and his Torah.
Now when Moses went into the tent of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the testimony, from between the two cherubim, so He spoke to him. (Num 7:89 NAU)
God Spoke the commandments from the ark of the testimony the testimony no where in scripture is called the commandments of God or his Torah (Law).
44 Now this is the Torah which Moses set before the sons of Israel;
45 these are the testimonies (THE TEN WORDS) and the statutes and the ordinances which Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, when they came out from Egypt,
(Deu 4:44-45 NAU)
20 "When your son asks you in time to come, saying, 'What do the testimonies and the statutes and the judgments mean which the LORD our God commanded you?'
21 then you shall say to your son, 'We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, and the LORD brought us from Egypt with a mighty hand.
22 'Moreover, the LORD showed great and distressing signs and wonders before our eyes against Egypt, Pharaoh and all his household;
23 He brought us out from there in order to bring us in, to give us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.'
24 "So the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God for our good always and for our survival, as it is today.
25 "It will be righteousness for us if we are careful to observe all this commandment before the LORD our God, just as He commanded us.
(Deu 6:20-25 NAU)
The Commandments are our righteousness and our life because of the testimony that God wrote ten words with his finger to be a testimony that he is the God who is to be obeyed forever and the Torah he gives will give them life and righteousness.
26 "Take this book of the Torah (instructions and teachings) and place it beside the ark of the agreement of the LORD your God, that it may remain there as a witness against you. (Deu 31:26 NAU)
The Torah is not the testimony the Torah is the instructions of the agreement that Israel would obey God and be His people.

The Law of Moses is what is known as the Jewish Mitzvot contained in the first five books of the Torah (the Bible), and the Old Covenant made through them was replaced by theNew Covenant of grace through our Messiah and Savior, Jesus Christ. To read these 613 commandments and ordinances of the Mitzvot, click here.
The Law of Moses is NOT the Jewish Mitzvot. The Law of Moses is the Law of Moses for all people. The is a Law of the Jews and that is the Oral Law. G
Hello. Holy Spirit does not have multiple personality. There is only one faith but multiple opinions. Opinion is religion. To support Judah's Daughter I would say that an Old Law was good but only Law of flesh. Now after the resurrection New Law is Law of the spirit, inner man.
If this is in control then we do not walk in flesh.
New Covenant (Law) was predicted in Jer. 31:31-33. New man, new heart was predicted in Ezech 18:31.
Without being judgmental who was not born of God do not understand walking in the spirit.
Since we are bearing fruit of the spirit the Old commandments are embedded in it (Gal 5). The sin is work of the flesh. Just terminology was changed.
You do not know the context of GalaTIANS. Galatians 5:4 You who are trying to be declared righteous by God through legalism (oral laws and takkanot of man) have severed yourselves from the Messiah! You have fallen away from God's grace! (Gal 5:4) God Law - Torah is Grace. You have fallen from Yeshua and Follow the anti Law Jesus who you call God. Galatians is explaining the difference between the Written Law of God Verses the Oral Laws (unwritten laws of man) God set Israel free by Grace and gave them the Torah to remain in his grace.
Context: 11 Furthermore, let me make clear to you, brothers, that the Good News as I proclaim it is not a human product;
12 because neither did I receive it from someone else nor was I taught it- it came through a direct revelation from Yeshua the Messiah.
13 For you have heard about my former way of life in [traditional] Judaism- how I did my best to persecute God's Community and destroy it;
14 and how, since I was more of a zealot for the traditions (Takkanot of man) handed down by my forefathers than most Jews my age, I advanced in [traditional] Judaism more rapidly than they did.
(Gal 1:11-14) Traditional Judaisim is not Torah but Oral laws of the rabbis.
i still have not heard your understanding of Romans of those who are doers of the Law (Troah) who are righteous or justified. We have inhertied the lies of Marcion and the church fathers who said that the Torah is the Jews and the New Testament is Christians. In Gods eyes when we follow the Torah there is no Jew or Gentile, Male or Female, slave or free because we all finally worship God from HIS Written Torah the Written Words for His True People. Your verses are not proof enough to disprove the Torah. Jesus (Yeshua) kept it and said follow me when was the last time you kept a written commandment that God said to do in the , what you call Old Testament.
Yes right Judah's Daughter.
Pastor Will, love is crown of commandments. If you love you cannot steal or covet, or else. In Old Law there is missing faith and love. Actually does, but missing in the Ten Commandments. It was desert law, not law of new man, new creation. There is no law for inner man.
Nobody was able to keep the law, this is why Jesus came. He did it for us. Now we bear fruit of the spirit, new creation.
Additional laws of the Takanot? That's Tanakh. It is the Hebrew Bible.
It was named Tanakh as an acronym for Torah (first 5 books of the Old Testament), the Nevi'im (The Books of the Prophets, also found in the Old Testament, Ezekiel, Isaiah etc. ), The Ketuvim which contains all the other books (Job, Proverbs, Song of Solomon).
You use the same Bible books. You shouldn't try to teach something you have no knowledge of. This has made you look really silly and unlearned in my eyes and the eyes of those who understand.
And Pastor Will, Paul WAS a Pharisee. Circumcision is not a tradition nor a commandment. It is a covenant between God and Israel. God said it is an everlasting covenant.
Oh, you mean Takanah. A takanah is an act of legislation.
The ordinances.
Those are laws for the towns. Like all places have ordinances.
Israel's City and Church are combined. Yes the Rabbe's help determine the laws.
My husband is Hebrew, born in Israel.
The Bible you believe in tells you to pray for Israel not try to make a mockery of them.
You stated bad things about the Messianic Jews and they definitely believe in Yahshua.
Where is your love Judah?
No Judah I know nothing of the Hebrew language but I read it, write it, speak it, and have written four hubs on it.
But you know more than me.
Your writings and topics are deep and thought provoking. These are things I have wanted to understand more clearly. I will continue to digest it all.
bless you for the time and work you put in to helping us understand the functions and purposes of the covenants.
Recent discoveries at Tel Hazor in Northern Israel prove that the system of laws written down in the Codex Hammurabi (King of Babylon) were in use - in Israel - before the Israelites reached 'the promised land' from Egypt during the exodus.
Mosaic law: as written in Deuteronomy, is simply a plagiarized copy of the much older Hammurabi codex, written in the fifth century BC.
The ten commandments were lifted straight out of the Egyptian book of the dead around the same time.
As for the finger of god - I have picture of it on one of my hubs.
All the best.
It would seem Hammurabi knew the law of Moses before Moses.
So did the people living in 'the promised land' (IE the Canaanites) before the birth of Joshua.
All the Best
I'm going to have to agree with Judah's Daughter on this one.
peterxdunn has too much purple haze all in his brain. In a comment on his hub "Spirit & Soul" (a good read if you are looking for comic relief), he states that Jimi Hendrix is his personal messiah. I'm just sayin'.
Then you have the lady with the tarot cards and the pastor who is not really a pastor critiquing this hub.
C'mon people, you got to show me some credibility before I am going to question what I consider to be the wise counsel. as demonstrated in hub after hub, of Judah's Daughter.
They found the Ark of the Covenant where Moses placed the 10 Commandments, in a cave under Golgotha.
I don't know why but I got to reading your blog doing homework for Religion 210 and I could not stop. I am an American, I love the Lord and am saved and what not but I must say your literary skills are to to par. I would have enjoyed reading some on Job though. Ole Job speaks to my heart. God bless and Jesus is the way the truth and the light. He is the only way.

This is a constant theme in the New Testament, the apostle Paul having to remind Jews that they were no longer under the Old Covenant, this was the reason why the book of Hebrews was written,Hebrews 8:13 In that he saith, A new covenant he hath made the first old, Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. Romans 10:4 For Christ is the END of the Law for righteousness to everyone who believes. THE QUESTION IS DO U BELIEVE??
Not by works of rightiousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he has saved us TITUS 3:5-7, i cant tell u how i constantly think of how he saved me!!!!my rightiouness supasses that of the pharisees because i rely on his rightiosness not on mine!!! it is all about CHRIST not of me, John the Baptist said i must decrease while he must increase, and that should b the mentallity of all christians, in our lives we must decrease and he should increase in our lives (John 3:30)

Thanks God, our salvation is grace! Not by works, lest any many boast!
